When Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate David McCormick visited Williamsport about a week ago, he shared a number of important — and correct — points with local leaders.
Pennsylvania needs job creation — not only more jobs but jobs that offer wages and salaries capable of supporting families.
The United States is consuming more energy, at a time when many states are shuttering power plants ahead of hopes of shifting to more renewable power.
Pennsylvania still has the potential to develop more of its natural gas to meet national and international demand, creating the jobs Pennsylvania needs, improving the reliability of the region’s power grid in the way that it needs and reducing the world’s reliance on dangerously unstable and tyrannical regimes for energy supplies.
McCormick is right about each of these aspects, and when added altogether, he is right that energy independence should be one of the foremost issues Pennsylvanians consider this November when they cast their ballots.
“I want to be an energy focused senator,” McCormick said, according to an article in Saturday’s edition of the Williamsport Sun-Gazette.
Once again, he is right that Pennsylvania and the United States need senators, congressmen, White House staffers and a president that prioritize the development of affordable energy.
