Energy giant bp has announced the appointment of Carol Howle as its deputy chief executive officer (CEO).
She has already taken on the new role and will oversee the company’s ongoing portfolio review and long term strategy development and will continue to lead Supply, Trading and Shipping (ST&S).
The company’s strategy and sustainability team will now report directly to her.
Ms Howle, who has already spent 25 years at bp, was appointed executive vice president (EVP) of supply, trading and shipping in 2020 and interim CEO in December 2025.
She joins Meg O’Neill, who was recently appointed as bp’s new chief executive officer.
Ms Howle said: “bp is a great company. Progress has been made in recent months but there is always more to do. Meg and I share a commitment to safe and reliable operations, disciplined capital allocation and high-quality delivery – and I look forward to supporting her as she gets started.”
