In a bid to foster growth in technology-based entrepreneurship, the Caltech Entrepreneurs Forum is hosting an event exploring the future of renewable energy on Saturday, Oct. 19, 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Caltech campus, 1216 E. California Blvd., in Pasadena. The event will focus on emerging trends in nuclear, solar, and other clean energy technologies.
The forum, titled “The Future Energy Grid: From Solar to Nuclear to Novel Chemistry,” aims to provide a platform for startup founders, investors, and academics. Participants will discuss how innovative businesses can capitalize on these emerging trends to drive growth and sustainability in the energy sector.
Peter Turner, Ph.D., partner at Breakthrough Energy Ventures, and Neil Fromer, Ph.D., executive director of programs at Caltech’s Resnick Sustainability Institute, are slated to deliver keynote presentations. Their insights are expected to shed light on the latest developments in renewable energy technology and market opportunities.
The event will also feature a panel discussion with industry leaders, including Jason Huang, founder and CEO of TS Conductor, and Martin Soltau, co-CEO of SpaceSolar. These speakers bring hands-on experience in developing cutting-edge energy solutions to the conversation.
Event producers include Scott Sugino, Corporate Partner at O’Melveny; Andy Tomat, Managing Director at Four Pillars, Inc.; and Stan Tomsic, Managing Director at Magna Point Group. Their involvement underscores the event’s commitment to bringing together diverse expertise in the field.
Organizers hope the forum will serve as a nexus for networking and knowledge sharing among entrepreneurs, investors, and innovators in the clean energy space. The event is part of the Caltech Entrepreneurs Forum’s ongoing efforts to support technology-based ventures in Southern California.
The Forum regularly hosts events covering topics such as financing, marketing, business planning, executive leadership, and staffing. These gatherings are designed to provide advice, support, and education to emerging technology companies in the region, particularly in fields like life sciences, medical technologies, energy, software, communications, and entertainment technologies.
The forum also offers a platform for startups to present their business plans to expert panelists, providing valuable feedback and exposure to emerging companies.
Tickets for the event are $30 for general admission and $20 for students, with free entry available for Caltech students upon approval. The forum will begin with coffee and networking at 8:00 a.m., followed by the main program from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Free parking is available underground. Turn right at the signal on the east side of Cahill Street (right at the tennis courts), and the parking lot entrance is 75 yards on the right.
As the renewable energy sector continues to evolve rapidly, events like this Caltech forum play a crucial role in connecting innovators with resources and expertise. By bringing together diverse stakeholders, the organizers hope to catalyze new ideas and partnerships in the clean energy space.
