LUBBOCK, Texas (NEWS RELEASE) – Atmos Energy proudly announces its commitment to fueling warmth for winter by donating an additional $1.5 million to be distributed in partnership with dozens of nonprofit organizations across the eight states it serves. These funds will help thousands of families settle unpaid utility bills and past-due debt in preparation for the winter heating season, when families depend on reliable and efficient natural gas service to stay safe and comfortable all winter long.
“Now is an excellent time for our customers to start getting ready for the winter heating season, and these funds will help our most vulnerable neighbors with the financial assistance they need to pay bills or settle debts on their account,” said Public Affairs Manager Hantz. “Helping our communities stay warm is an essential pillar of our Fueling Safe and Thriving Communities initiative, and this energy assistance donation will benefit the elderly, individuals with disabilities, veterans, families experiencing financial hardship, and others who need immediate and easy access to funds.”
Among the many energy assistance agencies receiving funds is Love the Hub whose mission is: Supporting families and individuals in the Hub City area who are experiencing a temporary crisis, through financial support and direct engagement & The Lubbock Dream Center, whose mission is to Build Families, Restore Hope & Inspire Dreams.
Customers looking for energy assistance can easily find an agency by calling 211 or by visiting atmosenergy.com/assistance. Financial assistance may also be available through a variety of federal, state, and local programs. Through the Sharing the Warmth program, Atmos Energy partners with non-profits and energy assistance agencies, to provide financial support to pay for utility bills, home weatherization upgrades, and repair and replacement of customer-owned natural gas appliances and piping. The federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) releases funds to all states and territories to help pay utility bills. Atmos Energy is also a member of the National Energy & Utility Affordability Coalition (NEUAC) which works to end energy poverty through advocacy and education.
