Smarta Energy is uniting the energy sector for an eight-hour fundraising challenge on Wednesday 22 April 2026, with Group Managing Director Kieran Dixon running continuously from 9am to 5pm in support of Cash for Kids.
The “Running 9–5” event, held on Earth Day, aims to raise more than £10,000 through a mix of live engagement, supplier participation and donation-driven challenges. Industry partners including ENGIE, EDF and Crown Gas and Power will take part in scheduled treadmill takeover slots throughout the day.

“This is about bringing the industry together for something bigger than ourselves. We want to raise as much as possible for Cash for Kids, while showing how the energy sector can have a real, positive impact both socially and environmentally,” said Kieran Dixon, Group Managing Director at Smarta Energy.
The event will include live donation updates, hourly prize draws and interactive “Power Play” moments, where donations can alter treadmill speed and incline. A £500+ donation will trigger a “wheel of terror” challenge for Dixon.

Smarta Energy will also plant a tree for every kilometre completed, linking fundraising with environmental impact on Earth Day.
Kayleigh Beecroft from Cash for Kids said the company has been a “genuine” and “passionate” supporter, highlighting their ongoing fundraising and volunteering efforts.
The challenge will conclude at 5pm with a final fundraising total revealed after the eight-hour run.
