Tom said social media was the ideal place to kickstart conversations about mental health.
“Almost every young person uses social media,” he said.
“And when you’re alone on the farm, you often find yourself scrolling through TikTok or Instagram.”
He started posting videos in 2022, but in the past year, his videos have gained more traction and popularity.
Tom added: “Farming content creators have become really popular this year, and it’s great for young farmers as it gives them role models to watch and learn from.
“We try and get these creators onto our platform talking about mental health, so young farmers who might otherwise feel alone become more connected to the community.
“Our videos touch everything from spotting when a colleague might need help, to spotting these signs in yourself.”
Tom’s vision for the future is turning his online initiative into a registered charity.
He said: “I want to create an environment for young farmers – and all farmers – to feel supported.
“Even helping one person is a success to me, but the more we can help, the better.”
