Black Hills Energy may net $170K in land swap with city

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The city’s Finance Committee will get a chance to review a potential deal with Black Hills Energy to exchange two parcels of land.

The City Council sent the deal to the committee Monday as part of its consent agenda.

The agreement involves trading a 0.77-acre property owned by the city on East 24th Street north of the Black Hills Energy local office and a 0.85-acre parcel owned by Black Hills Energy on West 18th Street between Snyder and Reed avenues.  

The city will pay Black Hills Energy $170,000 to account for the difference in appraised value between the two properties. The acquisition of the West 18th Street property will give the city control of land adjacent to the Reed Rail Corridor project.  

A final decision on the agreement is expected Nov. 12.
