Bobcats’ energy returns despite loss to Lincoln

From Staff Reports

SIOUX FALLS – The Brookings Bobcats lost to the Sioux Falls Patriots in four sets on Thursday night but Bobcats coach Erinn Thomas was pleased with her teams performance.

After a loss to Sioux Falls Washington on Tuesday night, Thomas felt like her team’s energy had returned and feels like it’s something they can build on as they prepare to host Sioux Falls Roosevelt on Tuesday.

“We had our energy and spark back that was missing from Tuesday,” Thomas said. “We made adjustments well on defense and our blocking was the best I’ve seen all year.”

The Bobcats dropped the first set 25-18 and fell into a 0-2 hole after losing the second set 25-16. But Thomas loved the fight her team showed by winning the third set 25-18 before ultimately falling 25-22 in the fourth set.

“We struggled in serve-receive tonight and had double-digit reception errors,” Thomas said. “Our focus in practice will be on our passing and ball control before we host Roosevelt and head to Rapid City for the East-West Tournament next weekend.”

The Bobcats fell to 10-11 after the loss. Tuesday’s match with Roosevelt will begin at 7 p.m.
