Couple hoping to shake up property market in south Wales

Kate and Alex Johnson, who work full-time at Wales & West Utilities, have launched Honey Grove Sales and Lettings in south Wales.

The business is based on principles of honesty and transparency, shaped by their own experiences as property investors.

Kate Johnson, who works in the metering team at Wales & West in Newport, said: “We’ve been in the shoes of local buyers, sellers, and landlords.

“Time and again, we’ve been let down by agents who don’t listen, don’t communicate, or don’t follow through.

“We want to change that, to create a service that’s honest, transparent, and personal.”

For the past four years, the couple have built a property business in their spare time, flipping seven properties, running serviced accommodation in west Wales, and managing buy-to-lets in Treorchy.

To launch their agency, they have partnered with Alto, a leading estate agency software provider that helps with compliance, marketing, and administration.

Ms Johnson said: “Alto makes running the business simpler and saves us hours of admin every week.

“That means we can spend more time where it matters on helping our clients.”

As a launch offer, Honey Grove is waiving commission fees for its first 10 property sales, charging only a small marketing fee to cover portal listings.

Ms Johnson said: “It’s been a whirlwind.

“We’re still working our day jobs to support the business as it grows, but we’re passionate about what we do.

“Property changed our lives, and now we want to help others achieve their goals – whether it’s finding a first home or building an investment portfolio.”

The couple plan to open a high-street office later this year.
